Dr (Mrs) Yuki Sirimane (presenter), Mr.Upali Amarasiri (Director-NILIS, and President SLLA), and Professor Russell Bowden (Member, SLLA Exco) are also present in the picture.Sri Lanka Library Association (SLLA) and the National Institute of Library and Information Sciences (NILIS), University of Colombo jointly organised the LEARNING about DISTANCE LEARNING lecture and demonstration conducted by Dr. (Mrs) Yuki Sirimane of Damrivi Foundation Project. It was held on Friday, 21 May at 3.00pm at the NILIS auditorium.

The lecture / demonstration was intended as an introduction to the steps that need to be gone through to establish an effectively provided and efficiently managed distance education project in Sri Lanka based on the experiences of some of those involved in establishing the Damrivi Foundation Project.

Professor Russell Bowden acknowledged the work done so far on distance learning by SLLA, and expected the association to further develop the quality of such courseware in future.
