One day workshop on Resource Description and Access (RDA) — Free of charge
This will be the first ever workshop on RDA in Sri Lanka. It will be conducted free of charge byProfessor Emeritus Piyadasa Ranasinghe (former Senior Professor of Library and Information Science, University of Kelaniya), as a contribution to the library profession in Sri Lanka. The workshop is sponsored by the Sri Lanka National Library and Documentation Board and the Sri Lanka Library Association.
RDA (Resource Description and Access) is the latest code of cataloguing which replaces the AACR2. Major national libraries as well as many other university and public libraries throughout the world have already embraced RDA. It is inevitable that in Sri Lanka too, libraries will have to go for it, as it is more convenient tool to handle bibliographic data in the present digital era.
To whom: Senior Librarians those who are engaged in cataloguing activities in libraries, LIS teachers who teach cataloguing etc. Suitable to those who already have a working knowledge on AACR2.
Number of participants: The number of participants will be limited to a maximum of 35. Selection is made on the first come - first served basis.

Venue: Small Auditorium, Sri Lanka National Library and Documentation Board, Colombo 07.
Time: 9am - 4pm.
Content: The workshop introduces the RDA, how it is different from AACR2 and FRBR/FRAD/FRSAD-the theoretical framework of RDA.
